IT Europa: ASBIS to repeat Dell disti plan in Ukraine

After its secret success in Russia as a Dell distributor was first revealed in IT Europa in September last year, ASBIS has just announced that it has become Dell's authorised distributor in Ukraine.

AFTER its secret success in Russia as a Dell distributor was first revealed in IT Europa in September last year, ASBIS has just announced that it has become Dell's authorised distributor in Ukraine.

The new agreement covers the complete line of Dell's laptops, server equipment, storage, UPS, PCs and monitors. ASBIS Ukraine will begin supplying Dell products to its channel partners before the end of April 2008 and will ensure full stock availability towards mid May. ASBIS will offer solutions aimed at end-users, SMB and corporate segments.

In order to support the sales of enterprise solutions, ASBIS Ukraine has set up a Project Distribution Department which will provide technical and pre-sales support to ASBIS partners.

For the portable PC market, ASBIS will offer Dell's Inspiron, Latitude, Vostro and XPC lines, as well as gaming play stations. The ASBIS Group has now franchises for distribution of Dell products in Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, the Middle East, and Ukraine.

Our analysis:

The model is proven - actually Dell has been working through distributors in emerging areas for years, rather than set up an office. But full marks to ASBIS for getting a grip on a difficult market like Ukraine. Keep an eye on the share price - now listed only in Poland - as this translates to business.
