ASBIS supports primary school students in Cyprus

THE COMPANY HAS DONATED 1000 MOBILE DEVICES (LAPTOP PCs), WHICH WILL BE USED IN EDUCATION BY STUDENTS FROM POOR FAMILIES

ASBISc Enterprises Plc, a leading distributor of IT products on emerging markets of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and producer of brands Prestigio, Canyon and Perenio, as a socially responsible company supporting the local community, donated 1,000 light Laptops PCs to the Association of Primary School Teachers in Cyprus (POED) and the Board of Public Schools in Limassol. They will be used for on-line education and to improve the knowledge and skills of primary school students aged 6-12 who, for economic reasons, cannot afford to buy their own computer.

At a press conference held on Thursday 3^rd of September in Limassol, Cyprus, ASBIS representatives officially handed over Laptop PCs to both organizations.

The current situation in the world has made technology more and more important in our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to the transfer of many activities to the Internet, and thus the need to have the right tools for study or work has become crucial. ASBIS has been involved in social campaigns for many years, supporting those in need. This time, the company started cooperation with the Association of Primary School Teachers in Cyprus (POED), providing through them Laptops PCs for the less privileged  students, i.e. tools without which learning is now very difficult, often impossible.

During the press conference held on Thursday 3^rd of September at ASBIS’s headquarters in Limassol,Serhei Kostevitch Group’s Founder and CEO and Tziamalis Constantinos, a Member of Board of Directors of ASBIS, officially handed over the Laptop PCs to the Association of Primary School Teachers in Cyprus (POED) and the Board of Public Schools in Limassol. POED was represented by Antonis Vrasidas while the Board of Public Schools in Limassol was represented by its President, Mr. Ntinos Ellinas.

We are aware, however, that not every student and his family can afford to buy and own a computer. Having seen the efforts from the teachers during the pandemic we have recognized that not all children had the same ability to get properly educated. We now have an equal access to education, but economic disparities and access to the tools needed in education today, such as computers, are still not equal. So we would like to give a better chance for good education also to children from poorer families. That is why we donate 1000 Laptops PCs to the Association of Primary School Teachers in Cyprus (POED) and the Board of Public Schools in Limassol, who will know how to use these tools in the most effective way in educating the students of our community.

Antonis Vrasidas representative of Association of Primary School Teachers in Cyprus (POED) commented: “It is with pleasure we are accepting this donation from ASBIS today. Efforts like this are giving the teachers power and strength to continue delivering the highest level of education to all of our students. During the lockdown period, we have faced significant problems with distance teaching, and the major obstacle we faced was the lack of technology tools in every house.
